A number of people have remarked on the striking cover design, and asked what it means.

In the very early days of the book, it was known that the death knell was to be sounded for a flowing time and so a design was needed that echoed this demise of our subjective time. Ideas kept returning to the painting "The Persistence of Memory" by Salvador Dali (his melting clocks), and also his related "The Disintegration of The Persistence of Memory". But these were in copyright, and the cost would dwarf any potential gain from the book.

The image you see now — entitled "Nexus of Life-Time" — was designed using Photoshop Elements. It represents the fact that a flowing time and conscious life are bound together, such that neither one exists without the other, and any critical examination of time will inevitably change our understanding of consciousness, and hence of life in general. See the temporal anthropic principle (TAP).
